On the occasion of the death of King Harald V. (1937–2026), a special moment from Art Garfunkel’s international career comes into focus: his meeting with Princess Märtha Louise of Norway during the major Norwegian television charity event “Aksjon Menneskeverd” in Oslo in November 1994.
On November 6, 1994, the major Norwegian television charity event “Aksjon Menneskeverd” took place in Oslo. The benefit event was organized by Norwegian People’s Aid and focused on human dignity. Princess Märtha Louise of Norway served as patron of the campaign, while Art Garfunkel was invited as an international musical guest.
During the live broadcast, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, Art Garfunkel, and the Stavanger Gospel Choir appeared together on stage. Photographs were also taken backstage documenting the meeting between Art Garfunkel and the 23-year-old princess.
The event combined musical performances with the purpose of the fundraising campaign: drawing attention to the importance of human dignity.
