Good Friday. I took a taxi to
Chelmsford, then walked to the North
Sea. It is spring. I had my homework in
the Walkman.
I walked along a path beside a canal,
singing and thinking of her again:
If she were a "tabula rasa" and I a
believer in all in the eye of beholding,
then what she was was what I saw; her
power, my capacity.
She was a mirror and I saw myself
more kindly. And she took me up.
